PSN, Battle.net, League of Legends, Path of Exile Crippled by DDoS Attack

PS-background

A massive distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack has hit a number of gaming services overnight.

Most affected is the PlayStation Network which is still down until further notice. Servers for Battle.net (which handles all of Blizzard’s current titles such as Hearthstone and World of Warcraft), League of Legends and Path of Exile have also been included as part of the DDoS attack, however all report to be functioning at reduced capacity.

A group known as the Lizard Squad have claimed responsibility for the attacks, along with reporting a bomb threat on Sony Online Entertainment President John Smedley’s plane which ultimately caused the flight to be diverted.

We’ll update this article when more news comes to hand.

I know nothing about the law regarding DDoS attacks. But bomb threats are definatly not taken lightly. However either one of those actions is a c*nts act. I cannot fathom getting to a point in my life where i would consider anything like that to be a logical thing to do.

Grinding gear games (Path of exile) seems out of place on that list of company’s that were attacked.
