Blizzard Entertainment have announced that Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is now available on iPad, launching in Australia, New Zealand and Canada first.

CEO and Co-Founder of Blizzard Entertainment, Mike Morhaime mentioned that “Hearthstone’s player base has already grown to more than 10 million accounts registered following the official Windows and Mac release, but we saw that a few people online were holding out for the iPad version”.

“Instead of calling those folks up individually, we figured we might as well let everyone know that the global iPad rollout for Hearthstone has begun, and pretty soon it’ll be available everywhere. The game is a natural fit for tablets—we encourage everyone to check it out on their couch, in their backyard, in a coffee shop . . . or anywhere else they take their iPads.”

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is a free-to-play digital strategy card game, where players build custom decks featuring one of nine epic Warcraft heroes and engage in 1 vs. 1 card battles. The iPad version of the game features cross-platform compatibility and allows the player to retain the same set of cards across all platforms.

Hearthstone recently came out of open beta, releasing on Windows and Mac OS X last month. While Hearthstone is currently on iPad for Australia, New Zealand and Canada, Blizzard mentioned that it will launch for the rest of the world soon. Android, Windows Tablet and iPhone versions are currently in development, and will be available later this year.
