Over the weekend, files from Grand Theft Auto V were leaked ahead of the September release date. Kotaku reports that some PS3 owners were given access to a “preloaded version on the PlayStation Network”. Resourceful fans set upon the allegedly 18GB file to extract as much as they could about the upcoming game. So far, fans have only been able to discover Grand Theft Auto V’s main theme song and a list of music featured in the game (Spoiler Alert, obviously).

Sony has officially acknowledged and apologised for the leak. The pre-order files have since been removed.

We sincerely apologize to Rockstar and GTA fans across the world who were exposed to the spoiler content. GTA V is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year with a very passionate following, and we’re looking forward to a historic launch on September 17. — PlayStation Blog

Rockstar has responded by warning Social Club members that anyone discussion spoilers will be muted from commenting until the official launch date. Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released on 17 September, 2013. Until then, keep your wits about you to avoid any spoiler-y discussions.
