Pokken Tournament Release Date Confirmed

Pokkén Tournament_LogoNintendo has today confirmed the release date for Pokken Tournament, the upcoming 3D fighting game that lets players battle as prized Pokémon in fighting arenas. The Wii U exclusive is set to release in Australia and New Zealand on March 19, 2016 (SRP AU$89.95).

Pokken Tournament brings high-definition gameplay and spectacular, never-before-seen battles between some of the most recognisable Pokémon characters. The game combines gameplay elements from Bandai Namco’s Tekken series with characters from the Pokémon franchise.

Those who purchase the first production run version of the game will also receive a special Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card, which can be tapped to the Wii U GamePad controller to unlock the Shadow Mewtwo playable character in the game.

Previously, Pokken Tournament was released into the Japanese arcade market but there have been reports of the game not doing as well as the various other fighters that have made established communities over the years. Hopefully this isn’t the case with the WiiU release.
