Square Enix announced today that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, has exceeded 1.5 million registered players within two months of its launch.
The total also factors in players in all main territories worldwide (Australia, New Zealand, North America, Europe, Japan and other PAL territories), and across the two platforms the title has launched on, PC and PlayStation 3. In addition to the registered players total, Square Enix also mention that a beta program for the PlayStation 4 will start on 22 February 2014.
Patch 2.1 is set to release in December, which will introduce new features such as Player vs. Player (PvP) battle arenas, additional dungeons and player housing to name a few. Later this week, players will also be able to transfer their characters to another world via the World Transfer Service. Further details on transferring characters can be found here.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is available in retailers for PC and PlayStation 3, with monthly subscriptions at $19.95 AUD.
