Mojang has announced a Windows 10 edition of Minecraft to be released later in July alongside the new operating system. Dubbed with the very original “Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta,” this version of Minecraft will not be compatible with the existing version on PC but it will allow builders to explore online with up to seven friends playing the Windows 10 Edition Beta and through local multiplayer or with your Xbox Live friends online.

Just like the first release of Minecraft all those years ago, this version will develop and evolve over time with the help of your feedback. That’s why it has “Beta” in the title – because it’s not quite finished, and will become even more fun over time. Just like the other versions of Minecraft, all future updates will be free. We spoil you. We really do

In addition to the new features announced builders will also be able to play multiplayer with other Pocket Edition players thanks to a free update which is due to arrive soon after launch. If you have previously purchased Minecraft for PC you’ll be able to download the Windows 10 Edition Beta from the Windows 10 store for free. For the other seven of you that haven’t tried Minecraft, you can get it for the convenient price of $10 during the beta period.

Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition is hitting Windows 10 PCs on July 29.
