Sony have announced that over 18.5 million units of the PlayStation 4 have now sold worldwide as of 4 January 2015.
Out of the 18.5 million, 4.5 million units were sold in the 2014 Christmas period alone. President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc, Andrew House mentions “We are absolutely delighted that so many customers around the globe have continued to select PS4 as their console of choice throughout this holiday season”.
“We will continue to reinforce and deliver additional value on PS4 as the best place to play, by bringing even more exciting content and by enriching our wide array of service offerings.”
Sony have also revealed that over 10.9 million users have subscribed to PlayStation Plus as of 2 January 2015, along with over 81.8 million copies of games sold. In addition, Sony have promised that the portfolio of PlayStation 4 games will expand this year with a range of highly anticipated titles from both the AAA and indie scene.
