In addition to the registered players total, Square Enix also mention that a beta program for the PlayStation 4 will start on 22 February 2014.

Patch 2.1 is set to release in December, which will introduce new features such as Player vs. Player (PvP) battle arenas, additional dungeons and player housing to name a few. Later this week, players will also be able to transfer their characters to another world via the World Transfer Service. Further details on transferring characters can be found here.
