Xbox One to Verify Connection Every 24 Hours

Microsoft have today explained further details of the Xbox One, with one being a requirement for the console to connect to Xbox Live every 24 hours.

Posted on the company’s Xbox Wire site, it states that while you can play up to 24 hours offline on your home console, “offline gaming is not possible after this time until you re-establish a connection”. This is because the console checks if the game is linked to your account on both the console, and in the cloud. It is also mentioned that if you are logged into another console to access your library, the verification time is shortened to one hour.

“While a persistent connection is not required, Xbox One is designed to verify if system, application or game updates are needed and to see if you have acquired new games, or resold, traded in, or given your game to a friend. Games that are designed to take advantage of the cloud may require a connection.”

In addition to this, Microsoft have emphasised that while the Xbox One may not be able to be used for playing games after the 24 hours, “it can still be used to watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies”.

Xbox One is expected to be released by the end of this year.

I think that they are implementing rather pointless (and annoying) technology.. What does Microsoft think that someone won’t now market a Server Crack or something similar and completely rip off their precious cloud, whilst probably making thousands if not more with simple adverts on the cack Website etc??
