Xbox Australia have announced that local servers for Xbox Live have now launched in Australia.

With data centres hosted locally, Xbox One players will now be able to experience faster connection speeds improved reliability on certain Xbox One games. Titles that are currently supported by the local data centres are Forza Motorsport 5, Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. More titles are expected to be supported soon.

Microsoft Australia’s Business Group Lead for Interactive Entertainment, Jeremy Hinton comments on the newly launched local servers, saying that “It has been a very exciting year for both Xbox and the industry. We set out to deliver amazing experiences on the Xbox One platform, and are humbled by the support and positive response from Aussie gamers to the updates over the past 12 months.”

“Today’s announcement of Australian based Xbox Live servers addresses the most requested feature from local gamers. We are excited to give our fans the best online gaming experience available, just in time for the Holidays.”

It’s great news to hear for Xbox One gamers and to see Microsoft recognise their fanbase in Australia, especially before the Christmas break. Given the list of supported titles is quite small, let us know what Xbox One games you would like to see working locally!
