Blizzard have revealed the launch date and the cinematic trailer for their upcoming expansion to World of Warcraft, Warlords of Draenor.
At a live event held in Los Angeles, Blizzard announced that Warlords of Draenor will launch on 13 November 2014. CEO and Co-Founder of Blizzard, Mike Morhaime mentions that “players will encounter an epic cast of legendary characters and a huge amount of content to explore in Warlords of Draenor”.
“The countdown to the arrival of one of the greatest threats in Warcraft history has begun. We can’t wait to send everyone through the Dark Portal this November.”
For those keen on the story behind Warlords of Draenor, the expansion follows on from the events of Siege of Orgrimmar where Garrosh Hellscream was imprisoned to be tried in Pandaria. Before the trial can conclude, Garrosh escapes to Draenor of the past with the assistance of an ally who can manipulate the timelines, and prevents the orcs from ever drinking the blood of Mannoroth. His intention is to create an untainted Iron Horde (under the leadership of Grommash Hellscream) to travel through the Dark Portal and conquer the present day.
New content introduced in Warlords of Draenor includes the world of Draenor, customisable Garrisons and the zone of Ashran where players fight for control of the area. The expansion will also introduce more dungeons, raids, challenge modes and battlegrounds.
World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor releases on 13 November for $54.95 AUD (Standard Edition) or the Digital Deluxe Edition at $74.95 AUD (via Battle.net). The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the Dread Raven Mount and Dread Hatchling Pet, two portraits for StarCraft II and a Warsong Pennant for Diablo III. Blizzard have also mentioned if you pre-purchase either edition via Battle.net, a character boost is included which allows one character to be immediately boosted to level 90.
The Collector’s Edition will also be available at $99.95 AUD, which includes the digital bonus items from the Digital Deluxe Edition as well as a full-colour hardcover art book, a behind-the-scenes two-disc Blu-ray/DVD set, a CD soundtrack, and a Warlords of Draenor mouse pad.
