State of Decay has now been rated R18+ in Australia. After previous refusal due to the game’s use of drugs, this has now been re-titled as “Vitamins” instead of the original “Stimulants”.
Microsoft’s original submission was Refused Classification as video games here cannot depict drug use relating to a positive outcome.
By simply changing the text to read “vitamins” Microsoft and developer Undead Labs has successfully secured an R18+ rating for State of Decay, with only the advisory: “High impact violence.” It seems a little strange that a title change of exactly the same substance can be the difference between getting through our classification board.
Undead Labs added, “Who could possibly not like vitamins?”
While the classification of State of Decay has been released, there is currently no Australian release date announced.
