With BlizzCon coming up this weekend, speculation is starting to circulate on the next World of Warcraft expansion with the title being called Warlords of Draenor.
In an article posted on WoW Insider, Blizzard has filed trademarks for the name initially in Australia and New Zealand earlier this week, and subsequently in the US and Europe. The trademark is classed as “Computer game software, computer game discs, downloadable computer game software, computer game software downloadable from a global computer network, interactive multimedia computer game program; downloadable electronic game software for use on portable electronic devices such as mobile and cellular phones, laptops, handheld computers, and tablet PCs.”
The trademark also makes reference to an online service, stating “Entertainment services, namely, providing on-line computer games; providing on-line non-downloadable computer games that may be accessed via a global computer network; providing online news and information in the field of computer games.” In addition, the domain WarlordsofDraenor.com was found to be registered in earlier last month.
Blizzard is known to trademark upcoming titles very soon to their announcement, with current WoW expansion Mists of Pandaria being trademarked less than a week before its reveal at BlizzCon 2011.
BlizzCon 2013 starts this weekend from 8-9 November at the Anaheim Convention Center. Access to the live feed can be purchased here.
