EA and Maxis have announced today that SimCity will be playable offline.
Posted on the SimCity blog, Single Player Mode will be added to the game as part of Update 10 to all players. General Manager of Maxis’ Emeryville studio, Patrick Buechner mentions that playing SimCity offline will also open modding opportunities for the game.
Bringing the game Offline means big things for our wonderful community of Modders. They can now make modifications to the game and its components without compromising the integrity of the Online game. Modding is a big part of our studio’s legacy and we’re excited to see what you guys create.
Buechner has also mentioned that the existing online segment of the game will remain unchanged. Single Player Mode will be a sign of relief for SimCity players, after the string of issues that plagued the game’s launch early last year.
Update 10 will release soon. Will offline and the incentive of modding bring you back to the game? Let us know!
