Mortal Kombat X Gains R18+ Rating in Australia

Unlike the 2011 release of Mortal Kombat which was initially refused classification in Australia, Mortal Kombat X has gained an R18+ rating.

With the game set to release on 14 April, the Australian Classification Board cites Mortal Kombat X as having “High impact violence, blood and gore, and online interactivity”.

We understand that Mortal Kombat X has obtained classification without edits or censoring, however we’re waiting for full confirmation from Warner Bros as to whether that is the case.

While we’re grateful to see a title such as this gain the R18+ rating, it’s still disappointing to see that other titles such as Hotline Miami 2 are being refused classification for similar content.

Mortal Kombat X releases on 14 April for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
