Anyone who knows me well knows that I am a ridiculous fanboi when it comes to all things Halo, and 343 Industries’ latest announcement has just helped in solidifying my anticipation for this universe. So what did they announce? Well not a super amount, but enough for me to keep my ear to the ground when E3 rolls around to learn as much as I can. Bonnie Ross, the General Manager over at 343 Industries threw up a Blog Post simply titled ‘The Halo Journey,’ which straight out jumps into the formal announcement of the next game in line for the Halo Franchise as Halo 5: Guardians.
The other great bit of information that comes along with the formal announcement is the release date! We’re looking at a Fall 2015 Launch (that’s Spring for us Aussie folk), and it’s prepped to be one of 343 Industries’ most exciting and massive projects to date. Perhaps one of the most compelling things to take away from the article is the mention of the game engine, as well as the tech involved with launching on the new Xbox One console – something I am particularly keen to see. Utilising the hardware in the Xbox One to its potential will be impressive, and I certainly hope that 343 Industries can push the console to its absolute limit and showcase a beautiful game.
[quotes] “Halo 5: Guardians” is a bigger effort than “Halo 4.” That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen. Bonnie goes on to talk about how 2015 isn’t just going to be the year of Halo 5: Guardians, it will also mark the release year of the Halo television series that is currently in production and is being launched towards the fall of 2015, in collaboration with Steven Spielberg and some of the finest creative minds in the business. With not much further information released, it’s clear that both Bonnie and 343 Industries in general love the Halo Universe and are proud of what they have and will accomplish, and from a consumer point of view I couldn’t agree more. I cannot wait to see further developments regarding 343 Industries and hey.. 343 Industries: if you’re reading this, I’ll be heading to the States later on this year so *wink wink*!
