Halo 3: ODST Lands on Xbox One

New content has been announced by Halo developers 343 Industries over the weekend. A remastered version of Halo 3: ODST has been added to the Xbox One store as DLC for the Halo: Master Chief Collection. For previous owners this content will instead be released as a free update and players will be sent a code redeem their game.

The Halo 3: ODST campaign will be free to eligible consumers who logged in to their Xbox Live account and played Halo: The Master Chief Collection between Nov. 11, 2014 and Dec. 19, 2014.  The Halo 3: ODST campaign will also be available as downloadable content for Halo: The Master Chief Collection through the Xbox Store for $4.99.

Originally released in 2009 on Xbox 360, Halo 3: ODST was a slightly different take on the Halo universe where players assumed the roles of elite human soldiers, known as “Orbital Drop Shock Troopers” or ODSTs. This remastered version will  run at 1080p/60fps and will only include the single campaign. This downloadable addition will not add any content to the multiplayer experience of the Halo: Master Chief Collection.

Alongside the release of Halo 3: ODST remastered, there is also a free multiplayer update to Halo: Master Chief Collection. The update includes the recreated map ‘Relic’ from Halo 2 which is now dubbed ‘Remnant.’ This map will be added to the Halo 2: Anniversary playlist and is perfect for classic Slayer, Assault, and 1-Flag CTF game modes.
