If you’re a massive bungie fanboi like me, then you would’ve been all over the news this morning where Activision and Bungie confirmed not only their beta calendar for Destiny, but also their Collector’s and Limited Editions they have on offer. Information about the upcoming beta is explained further on in the article, but I’ll start off by detailing the information provided regarding these collector’s editions.
There are three Destiny collector’s editions on offer, which are The “Ghost” Edition and the Limited Edition (these two being physical versions), along with the third being the “Digital Guardian” Edition. For the two physical versions, they both include the following items:
- – Limited edition SteelBook™ Case and Game Disc
- – Guardian Folio
- – Arms & Armament Field Guide
- – Postcards from the Golden Age
- – Antique Star Chart
- – Collector’s Edition Digital Content Pack:
- – Unique Ghost Casing
- – Exclusive Player Emblem
- – Exclusive Player Ship Variant
Also included is the Destiny Expansion Pass. With this pass, it expands the Destiny adventure post-launch with the following two expansions, which will include brand new story missions, co-operative activities and competitive multiplayer arenas, along with a wealth of all new weapons, armour and gear to earn:
– Expansion I: The Dark Below – Set deep beneath the surface of the Moon, fans will discover an ancient tomb that has been unsealed, and a dark god who has risen an evil army in the depths of the Hellmouth, the home of the Hive enemy race
– Expansion II: House of Wolves – Details will be revealed later
– PlayStation platforms will also include additional exclusive content with each expansion
In addition to the above, the Destiny Ghost Edition will also include the following special items:
- – Ghost replica, featuring motion-activated lights and voice recordings from award-winning actor Peter Dinklage – voice of the Ghost character, the player’s personal companion in the game
- – Letter of Introduction
- – Golden Age Relics, which include a Photo, Patch, Sticker and two Chrome slides of the Traveler
If you pre-order the Destiny “Digital Guardian” Edition, this will include a digital download copy of the game, Expansion Pass as well as the Collector’s Edition Digital Content pack. Since it’s a digital copy, you don’t get to enjoy the awesomeness that is the physical items.
The Destiny Ghost Edition is $199.99 AUD and is available only on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Destiny Limited Edition and Digital Guardian Editions are both priced at $129.99 AUD, with the Expansion Pass at $39.99 AUD (or individually priced at $24.99 AUD each) are available for all other consoles.
The above are all available for pre-order now which will include access to the Vanguard Armoury. This includes early access to weapons, gear as well as an exclusive player emblem. You can check out some additional details over on the Bungie.net News page.
Lastly, some additional information for the Beta phase was released as well. Anyone who has already pre-ordered should (or will) receive a Beta Access Code which will guarantee you Beta access. It’s as simple as grabbing your code, heading to bungie.net/beta and signing up with your code.
The Beta Access details commence per platform as follows:
- – The Beta begins first for PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 at 3:00am AEST on July 18
- – The Beta begins for Xbox One and Xbox 360 gamers at 3:00am AEST on July 24
- – The Beta will be offline for scheduled maintenance on July 22 – July 23 and remain open for all platforms until 4:59pm AEST on July 28
If you’re interested in checking out the brand new Destiny Beta, you can watch it here and you can read more about the Beta Access details over on the Bungie.net News page.
If you’re anything like me and you’ve already pre-ordered and paid off your copy (Hooray Ghost Edition!), then make sure you get registered for the Beta Access and I might see you there! I’ll be playing on the Xbox One with my gamertag Korthal so feel free to add me and we can roam around together and save the universe!

Jul 08, 2014 7:45 pmDestiny is the first Alpha/Beta i have joined in that has actually increased my interest in a game. It was such a small slice of the game but it was just so damn fun. If the beta runs, feels and plays as good as the alpha then i will end up using a sick day or 2.
I think i going to grab the limited edition. The star map will look good in a frame in my man cave.

Jul 10, 2014 4:23 pmEb games called me yesterday and told me about the 2 collectors editions and said there was only one Ghost edition left for the ps4. I declined but did upgrade to the limited edition. Went back inside and 10 minutes later i thought fuck it. Called them back but it was gone already.. I died a little on the inside 🙁

Jul 10, 2014 11:01 pmI had a similar thing with EB. Local store tried contacting me on an old mobile number, and before I could rectify it and say yes, it was gone.
If you’re still keen on a Ghost Edition, JB have stock via their online shop. I’ve got more details in this article: https://progressbar.com.au/destiny-ce-reveal-video-ghost-edition-stock-starts-to-dwindle/

Jul 10, 2014 5:44 pmUpdate – After i wrote the previous post i decided to call the other local EB. They had one ghost edition left. I raced down there and placed my pre order.
What makes this so cool is that the manager recognized my name when i asked if he could hold it for half an hour and held it for me. When i got there he told me that each store only got 5 ghost editions and he was being selective to who he gave the last one to. I felt honored.
