Assassin’s Creed 4 PS4 update delivers native 1080p

Best Pirates of the Caribbean cosplay this side of Tortuga!

Ubisoft have confirmed that the latest instalment in the ‘we like to stab things’ franchise will receive native 1080p resolution support via an update released today in North America. Before the update, Edward Kenway’s sultry sea abs were rendered in the dispiriting 900p and then upscaled to Full HD resolution.

While associate producer Sylvian Trottier discussed engineers and new anti-aliasing techniques, we’re all more interested in the unconfirmed rumour that Ubisoft simply made a voodoo pact with the devil to satisfy the angry, vengeful mob of resolution hungry gamers.

Hang on, what’s that sound? That’s the sound of PC gamers everywhere selecting 2560×1440 resolution on the newly released PC version of Assassin’s Creed 4. Those scurvy sea dogs! PC gamers will also be able to play Assassin’s Creed 4 in 4K resolution.

Australian gamers can look forward to never having to see that ugly 900p resolution when the game launches along side the PlayStation 4 on 29 November.
