E3 2015 1

Everything Bethesda at E3 2015

Here at Progress Bar we have the great pleasure of attending E3 2015 and we intend to bring you as much content as possible during this week. It all starts with Bethesda’s conference where we will find all new releases and fancy announcements for your faces.

DOOM

RELEASE DATE: Spring 2016
PLATFORM: Xbox One/PlayStation 4/PC

You’ve come here for a reason. The Union Aerospace Corporation’s massive research facility on Mars is overwhelmed by fierce and powerful demons, and only one person stands between their world and ours.  As the lone DOOM Marine, you’ve been activated to do one thing – kill them all.

The gameplay shown within the demo is what people have come to expect in previous Doom games. Fast-paced action with gore splattering combat and a variety of weapons to choose from. With the addition of the multiplayer elements and Doom Snapmap it adds some customisation to the series. Snapmap looks easy to use and should create a bunch of fun modes to enjoy.

DISHONORED 2

RELEASE DATE: Spring 2016
PLATFORM: PC | PlayStation 4 | Xbox One

Dishonored 2 is set 15 years after the Lord Regent has been vanquished and the dreaded Rat Plague has passed into history. An otherworldly usurper has seized the throne from Empress Emily Kaldwin, leaving the fate of the Isles hanging in the balance. As either Emily Kaldwin or Corvo Attano, travel beyond the legendary streets of Dunwall to Karnaca – a once-dazzling coastal city that holds the key to restoring Emily to power.

Something that a lot of people were looking forward to was a Dishonored sequel and Bethesda has delivered in their first conference. The most exciting news surrounding the game reveal is that players will be able to choose to play as Korvus (Main character in the original game) or as a brand new character named Emily Kaldwin. Unfortunately, there was no release date announced but it’s good to see that the new IP wasn’t abandoned after it’s initial release.

Alongside the Dishonored 2 announcement there was also a mention to the release of Dishonored: Definitive Edition which will include the original game and all it’s released DLC in one nice little package. At the moment it looks like the definitive edition will only be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 25th, 2015  in North America and August 28th, 2015 for Europe.

THE ELDER SCROLLS: LEGENDS

RELEASE DATE: 2015 (Teaser trailer)
PLATFORM: PC / iOS Device

It looks like Bethesda is trying to possibly capitalise on the success of other digital CCG’s like Hearthstone because they have teased that there will be an Elder Scrolls CCG coming soon. Titled The Elder Scrolls Legends, there isn’t much more than concept art floating around but what we do know is the game will be free-to-play and out later this year.

FALLOUT 4

RELEASE DATE: November 10, 2015 (Worldwide)
PLATFORM: Xbox One | PlayStation 4 | PC

As the sole survivor of Vault 111, you enter a world destroyed by nuclear war. Every second is a fight for survival, and every choice is yours. Only you can rebuild and determine the fate of the Wasteland. Welcome home.

So I would have to take a wild guess and say that a lot of people were tuning into Bethesda’s conference so they check out all the details surrounding Fallout 4. Bethesda has once again delivered with a look at some of the features in this amazing looking experience. Jumping straight into character customisation it features a drag & shape style system where you are allowed to choose between a Male and Female protagonist. There are no more sliders and everything looks to transition seamlessly.

The premier also ran through the upgrades to the VATS system and the in-depth weapon customisation. Everything that you pick up in the world can now be broken down and used as scrap items to create new, more powerful weapons. The system looks simple to use and it looks like you can customise until your heart’s content on the best weapon possible. The new PIP-BOY was also shown during the showcase which has a greatly improved interface and seems to work a lot faster than the previous Fallout 3 model. This new model will also be included in the Collector’s Edition of Fallout 4 and will allow you to use your smartphone to interact with the PIP-BOY interface.

With a surprising release date of November 10, 2015 it will be less than six months before we will be able to explore the vast, open wasteland of Boston and this is very exciting news to hear.

FALLOUT SHELTER

LAUNCHED: June 14, 2015 (Worldwide)
PLATFORM: iOS

Fallout® Shelter puts you in control of a state-of-the-art underground Vault from Vault-Tec. Build the perfect Vault, keep your Dwellers happy, and protect them from the dangers of the Wasteland.

Alongside the announcement of Fallout 4, a side game has also be released to players. Fallout Shelter allows player to become a Vault Overseer and manage the day to day activities of its dwellers. You will be able to scout for extra survivors, explore the surrounding wasteland for resources and defending your fault from the ruthless attacking raiders.

The best things about this game is that it’s out NOW and Fallout Shelter is free-to-play without energy, timers or even needing an internet connection to play. Unfortunately there has been no announcement for an Android release which has made a lot of people sad (like me).

CONFERENCE THOUGHTS?

With Bethesda kicking off the conferences before everyone else they really got the hype train started for a lot of people. With the possible exception of The Elder Scrolls: Legends, everything looked like it was on track to be a fantastic experience with most games coming in the not to distant future. While there was a big showing this time I don’t think there will be enough content for a conference next year. With this being said I don’t think they need it. This amount of content has got everyone excited for what’s to come.

While Fallout 4 will be on everyone’s mind up until November I’m really keen to check out Dishonored 2 to see how they have changed the lacking elements in the original game. Playing as Emily Kaldwin should be a great experience and it will allow us to see how the characters could interact with each other. I would really like to see an Android release for Fallout Shelter because from what I’ve seen on other peoples devices it could be a game I would put a lot of time into.

All in all it was an excellent showing from Bethesda in their first ever E3 conference and I am ready to see what’s going to be shown on the E3 floor in the coming days.
