Square Enix have announced a new narrative driven adventure game, titled Life is Strange.

Developed by Dontnod Entertainment (the same studio which looked after Remember Me), the game takes place in the fictional town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon, where senior student Max Caulfield returns after a five year absence. Reunited with her former friend Chloe, the pair will attempt to uncover the uncomfortable truth behind the mysterious disappearance of a fellow student.

Square Enix explains that the player’s choices in Life is Strange play a key role with how the story unfolds. This is seen at the beginning of the game, where Max discovers she has the ability to rewind time, and in turn, alter the game’s narrative.

Creative Director at Dontnod Entertainment, Jean-Max Moris mentions that “Everybody at Dontnod is excited to be working on such a refreshing title” and that “we’re not only crafting the best game we possibly can, we also feel we’re providing the type of experience that perfectly fits today’s renewed taste for originality and diversity”.

Life is Strange will be heading to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. No release details have been provided yet, but we’ll keep you up to date when we hear more.
