DayZ Alpha Released on Steam

It’s been almost a year since DayZ creator Dean “Rocket” Hall announced to the world that DayZ would become it’s own IP, separate from the Arma 2 game. Since then fans have been excitedly waiting for the day when they can experience the Zombie Apocalypse in a whole new light, and as we awoke this morning, it seems our prayers have been answered.

The DayZ Standalone Alpha has now been released on Dan’s Website AND Steam for the interesting price of $30. This may seem a bit excessive for an alpha release, but fans of the game are already going nuts and at the latest check of the website, it has already amassed a whopping 35,000 survivors ready to tackle the new adventure. While the trailer was taken down from Steam for being too graphic, Dean has uploaded it on his YouTube channel for everyone to see.

Be warned: This game is an alpha in the most literal sense of the word. “DayZ Early Access is your chance to experience DayZ as it evolves throughout its development process”, Hall said. “Be aware that our Early Access offer is a representation of our core pillars, and the framework we have created around them. It is a work in progress and therefore contains a variety of bugs. We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle.”

Dean also advised on Twitter to only buy the game if you want to support the development of the game. “Please do not just buy the game because you heard it was cool. Many streamers are now streaming.”
